Music: Andras Schiff

For years I have listened to Schiff’s complete recording of J. S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2 on CD. It lives in my head for days whenever I listen to it again. A few weeks ago, I found Schiff’s Book 1 recording in a used record store in Doylestown, an instant favorite. Schiff plays the preludes and fugues like an orchestrator, voicing the lines with compelling and natural clarity.
